t takes all sorts to succeed in Hollywood. But not, perhaps, Liquorice Allsorts, as Cheryl Cole seemed to think on her latest visit to the States. Wearing a brash ensemble of a black and white striped jumpsuit, teamed with a bright pink blazer and pink sandals, the singer drew comparisons to the sweet brand’s mascot Bertie Bassett. Mrs Cole’s attempt to break America failed miserably last year when Simon Cowell dumped her as a judge from the U.S. version of The X Factor. ![]() ![]() At first it was reported that audiences had difficulty understanding her Geordie accent. Although that was later denied, with X Factor supremo Simon Cowell issuing a public apology to her. The feeling was that she was slightly out of her comfort zone in America. ‘I embarrassed her… But the truth was I was protecting her. I just want people to be in the best place at the right time. ‘It wasn’t that she was terrible – she was good. I just thought she’d be happier in the UK.’ But the singer has been publicly endorsed by one of America’s most successful pop artists Kanye West. The rapper said Mrs Cole had had ‘gone on to big things since the US X Factor’. He added: ‘I don’t see Cheryl ever working with Simon again. She is taking over the world in music and in movies. There’s no looking back for her, just forward. She’s going to get bigger and bigger.’ Mrs Cole, 28, was in the US with her mother Joan and brother Garry to watch the circus troupe Cirque Du Soleil. She will make her UK comeback later this month when she performs her new single Call My Name on The Voice. She has also returned to the studio with Girls Aloud to celebrate the group’s tenth anniversary. On Saturday night Cheryl stepped out in a a Stella McCartney Hawaiian style skirt complete with wild flowers and palm trees in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 28-year-old was in town to watch Cirque Du Soleil perform at the Ka Theatre at the MGM Grand Hotel, and wore the colourful skirt with an equally busy top. Cheryl is said to be preparing to take to the stage to perform on her manager’s show The Voice and is said to be performing on May 26, according to reports. The Daily Star reports the singer has been spending time with Tracy Anderson to get in shape ahead of the appearance and a source said: ‘She’s hoping to show Simon Cowell made a big mistake.’ |

Promoted her new single Call My Name today, Cheryl Cole spoke about renewing her friendship with music mogul Simon Cowell, telling Chris Moyles the pair had enjoyed some ‘interesting conversations’ after her axe. Cheryl made the admission in a frank interview on Radio 1, in which she also confirmed that Girls Aloud are planning a reunion in November for their tenth anniversary. When Moyles asked Cheryl how she found out she was off X Factor USA, she attempted to dodge the question by replying: ‘I’ve enjoyed this past year making the record and having the time to do that.’ But asked if she was still on speaking terms with Cowell, Cheryl replied: ‘I have spoken to him many times since. If you’re asking if there were interesting conversations, absolutely.’ Cheryl also confirmed the news that Girls Aloud fans have been waiting for, saying: ‘It’s coming up to our tenth anniversary in November and we all want to do something to celebrate it, so watch out!’ But the talk wasn’t all career-related, as Moyles also asked Cheryl about her private life, and if there is anyone special she is dating at the moment. A slightly disgruntled-sounding Cheryl replied: ‘I’m not interested right now. I’ve not got the time with my album.’ Cheryl added that she hadn’t been asked to be on the judging panel for The Voice, despite speculation otherwise, and said she wouldn’t be able to judge on the BBC show. She said: ‘I couldn’t do The Voice if I’m honest. That battle scene freaks me out. i couldn’t put two people I had chosen against each other – it gives me anxiety.’ Cheryl also told Chris about about her recent activity on Twitter. Referring to joining the micro-blogging site, Cheryl said: ‘I resisted Twitter for so long, it was the enemy for so long. but i love it now. I don’t know what i was doing without it.’ And joking about any abuse she receives on Twitter, Cheryl added: ‘I find that the haters on there are quite hilarious. Just have a nice time and follow nice people!’ The 28-year-old singer wore a pair of £240 Current/Elliott Leopard Airbrush Stiletto jeans and fluorescent pink sandals as she arrived at London’s Radio 1 studios this morning. Cheryl teamed her sandals and jeans with a black, yellow and grey loose vest top and loose black blazer as she made her way inside, leaving her long brown hair loose around her shoulders for the occasion. Heading into the studios, Cheryl had a security guard who was armed with a huge golf umbrella to keep her shielded from the rain. But before heading inside to catch up with Moyles, Cheryl took the time to meet her eagerly waiting fans and sign a few autographs. |

| ‘I own different sizes of jeans for my fat days,’ reveals Cheryl Cole as she opens up on her weight |

She is a slim size 8 and could hardly be called overweight. But Cheryl Cole has revealed that she keeps different sizes of jeans in her wardrobe because her weight goes up and down. ‘I’m like any other woman, my weight fluctuates,’ she said. ‘I have a pair of jeans one size bigger than the other just in case that week I’m a little bit heavier. I work out and try to make healthy choices.’ The 28-year-old singer, whose weight has been the matter of much discussion over the years, had to put on the pounds after battling malaria in 2010 while visiting Tanzania and dropping to a gaunt size 6. Asked about diets, she told Marie Claire magazine: ‘I try to avoid them like the plague. That can get you into a vicious circle. I did when I was younger.’ She revealed that she was sent into a panic over her weight when she found fame with Girls Aloud in 2002 after winning ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals.
‘When I first got in the band I remember the first mean story I read where newspapers called us “Pork Stars” – because the show was called Pop Stars: The Rivals. We were all fat… we were all fat! Not fat, chubby. ‘And Louis Walsh had come out publicly and said, “They’re all fat. They all need to lose weight.” And the record label sent us all to have training.’ When asked if ‘training’ meant ‘fat camp’, she replied: ‘Probably, but we were just thinking they were doing us a favour at the time. We were so deluded.’ The singer said she ‘just ate everything’ after her brush with malaria, and has previously spoken about how being ill changed her priorities. ‘It’s now less about work, work, work and more about making time to chill and be with my friends and family,’ she said. The star also confessed to a crush on Prince Harry. ‘I love Prince Harry,’ she said. ‘Actually, I had a dream last night I married Prince Harry and was a real-life princess! It’s true.’ |
